The Memory of Water

28th - 31st October 2009

Another fantastic success for Little Bridge - many saying "our best yet" - but they say that after every production!! It was certainly very well received by everyopne who saw it. A lovely piece of bittersweet and poignant comedy which manages to touch every single person who sees it. Some really fine performances from a small cast of Little Bridgers!

Our Country's Good

2nd - 4th April 2009

This highly challenging play, which is on the 'A' Level reading list, attracted not only several local school groups over the first couple of performances, but also managed a total sell out at every performance! Another first for Little Bridge! As usual the entire production was a marvellous piece of ensemble for both cast and crew which is a particular feature of our company and one of which we are very proud. There were some excellent performances from every cast member who all managed to add a little extra something to their performances each night which contributed to its great success.

Director: Lucy Smith, assisted by Patricia Mayes

Story Telling - In Aid of Children in Need

October 2008

Little bridge is extremely pleased to have raised a total of £430 in aid of Children in Need through our story telling events. Two wonderful events that also gave much pleasure to the audiences. Both events were held on the same day: one for children and one for adults. Guided and introduced by professional storyteller, Rob Parkinson, members of Little Bridge treated us to a wide rendition of stories which they had personally written. A delightful event, which we are sure to repeat. Thanks go to Tonbridge Waitrose for their donation of interval refreshments and food.

Truth and Other Lies

September 2008

True to their tradition of tackling challenging dramatic projects, Little Bridge Theatre Company devised a play based on true stories brought to auditions by members of the cast. Each story inspired improvisations to develop the characters and themes from which a truly exciting and unique script emerged. Directed by Mike Morrison, the cast explored their own, sometimes unsolved and often uncomfortable memories, to bring to the audience reflections of past attitudes and events. An inspirational and moving evening for those that took part and attended.

The Crucible

April 2008

Building on our previous successes, yet still only a three year old amateur theatre company, we decided the time was right to push the boundaries further and embark on the very challenging production of Arthur Miller's The Crucible. Written in the 1950s, it is centered around the Salem Massachusetts witch trials of 1692. Nearing 3 hours in length and calling for very strong performances, we are extremely pleased with the final production and audience reactions, and believe this staging of this production has taken Little Bridge to a new level.

A Time to Remember

November 2007 & 2008

To coincide with Remembrance Sunday, this production looked at the impacts of war from WW1 to the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Written by two of our members - Helen Longley and Pat Mayes- it touched many emotions from comic moments to intensely personal first hand accounts. Performed by a mix of adults and children it took the form of readings, music, singing and video projection. A number of organisations have approached us about giving repeat performances and we are pleased to say we will be doing all again this November in Tonbridge Parish Church.

Outside Edge

October 2007

Another new, and successful, venture for Little Bridge - a comedy production! Written in the 1970s by Richard Harris, and later transformed into a successful TV series, the play gave comic insights that typical English pastime - cricket on the green with all the joys and troubles that go on behind the scenes.

Cider with Rosie

April 2007

Our 2nd major annual performance, performed in the main auditorium of Tonbridge School's EM Forseter Theatre. Featuring a large and varied cast, including a number of children and young people new to Little Bridge, the play brought to life Laurie Lee's classic tale.

Celebration of Christmas

December 2006

Little Bridge's first seasonal production was a dramatic treatment of linked pieces on the theme of Christmas to comprise readings, music, singing and a dramatised extract from one of the Chester mystery plays.

Fen

September 2006

Written by Caryl Churchill, one of our most respected contemporary playwrights, Fen was first performed at the Royal Court Theatre. It traces the relationships between a group of villagers in the Fen Country in the 1980s, where changing conditions in agriculture meant the gradual and inevitable altering of the pattern of their lives. Under the direction of Mike Morrison, Head of Drama at Tonbridge School, the cast brought out the problems and humour, centred around a tender love story in this entertaining and thought-provoking play.

Canterbury Tales

March 2006

Little Bridge was proud to present a modern verse play adapted from Chaucer's colourful and humorous stories. Performed by a large cast in medieval dress, this version by Arnold Wengrow wowed audiences with its moral yet slightly bawdy approach to life. Six of Chaucer's tales were performed in a totally accessible form for modern audiences.
